About the Farm: This farm used to be a dairy farm. When we got here in 2015 the fences were in disrepair. There is always something that needs fixing and the desire to enhance, improve and recondition parts of it are ever present. The soil is very rich in places due to the past decades of "bovine fertilizer application". We keep a few beef cattle, chickens and some pet peafowl. In the past we have raised rabbits, geese, ducks, horses, goats, guineas and turkeys. We have added about a dozen fruit & nut trees and plan to add more.
The annual vegetable garden starts as a labor of love and results in hand to hand combat with squash bugs, a surly groundhog and mutant weeds that grow 10x faster than any veggie I put out there.
About Me: I (Jen) am a author, jewelry maker and am studying Silver-smithing. I live on our family farm near Ava, Missouri with my son and "too many pets". I have a passion for DIY and am easily distracted by a new project. I always come back to writing though, and a day spent tinkering in my studio with the microgreens growing across the room is a good day indeed! We hope you'll interact with us on this page in a positive way and share this page with your friends. Thank you for your support.
About Microgreens: I grow them because I love them. They are happy little plants and since I grow them indoors, in a climate controlled environment, year around I get to enjoy their company on a daily basis. Also, here are some other good reasons I grow them:
Microgreens are young vegetable greens that are harvested just after the first leaves have developed. These miniature plants are packed with nutrients, making them a popular choice for health-conscious individuals. T
They are known to have a higher concentration of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants compared to their fully grown counterparts.
In addition to their nutritional value, microgreens also offer a burst of flavor, adding a fresh and vibrant element to salads, sandwiches, and other dishes. They are incredibly versatile and can be grown from a wide variety of vegetables.
About my Jewelry: Come see it in person at one of my vendor events (find them on Facebook) or check out the store button. The selection is growing :)
